DEBUT ALBUM: WATER'S END
Deep snow lay on the ground and the sun was piercing through the clouds in Grybla Nature Reserve near Prague.
It was the winter of 2010 and Pavel and Rosy had been recording for another project. There had been a good feeling in the studio that day, creative juices running freely. Our colleague Miroslav gave us the push to collaborate and write our own album of original music. As we walked through the beautiful tall pine trees, beside a winding, half-frozen brook, Grybla cast her spell on us and the project was born, with water, our life-blood, as the theme.
Back in Manchester, Rosy turned to Sue for help with lyrics. Sue wrote a stark nine line poem envisaging a time when our earth simply runs out of water… water’s end. Over the following weeks, she produced many more poems; the lyrics bounced back and forth and the music followed.
It has been a long collaboration of old friends and family members and has brought us much joy, but we also hope our songs may encourage some thought about water and our relationship with it. There are 650 million people in our world who do not have access to safe drinking water, and with growing populations the situation is set to deteriorate quickly over the coming years.
We are very pleased to support Pump Aid with the sale of this album. £1 from every copy sold will go directly to the charity, which has delivered sustainable water solutions to nearly 10,000 communities in rural Malawi where Rosy used to live.
We would like to thank Miroslav Horňák for all the support he has offered to our project, which simply wouldn’t have happened without him.
